About the I.K.K.A.
IKKA Governance and Committee Structure
The International Kenpo Karate Association (IKKA), as prescribed by its constitution and guided by the vision of its founder, Senior Grandmaster Edmund K. Parker Sr., operates through a structured network of committees and specialized groups. This framework ensures that the association remains grounded in the active participation and leadership of its members. Built by its members and for its members, IKKA’s governance is carried out by dedicated committees that represent the diverse voices and perspectives within the Kenpo community.
This collaborative model fosters an environment where every member has a voice and a role in shaping the development and direction of the association. Members not only benefit from IKKA’s programs and resources, but also contribute directly to its ongoing growth—ensuring the organization remains vibrant, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving needs of the American Kenpo Karate community. An association of members, for members and run by members.
Committee Structure and Terms
I.K.K.A. Committees are composed of 3 to 5 members, each serving terms of 2 to 3 years. The only exception is the Executive Committee, which members serve 5-year terms. This structure, rooted in the IKKA constitution, promotes continuity, shared leadership, and sustained engagement across all levels of the association.
This collaborative model fosters an environment where every member has a voice and can contribute to the development and direction of the association. The members of IKKA not only benefit from its resources and programs but also play a direct role in shaping its future, ensuring that the association remains vibrant, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the American Kenpo Karate community.
Groups Structure and Terms
IKKA Groups may be created on an as-needed or ad hoc basis and may consist of 3 to 5 individuals, who may be members or non-members of the association. These groups, such as Advisory Groups, are formed to address specific needs and provide advice and serve at the direction of the I.K.K.A. Executive Committee.
